(1) To the reader: Just listen to their problems and be the best friend that you can be.
[back to top] I have the same problem, do you feel like nothing you say seems to help? When you say it will be okay, you get a negative response because they see no hope for the future. It's hard for both of you, especially when it's a friend and you care for them so much. The only thing I found helped was to stop saying everything will be fine and bite my tongue and listen. Just take a walk, we don't even have to talk, I just find it helps my friend a lot because he doesn't want to hear it will be okay. Somehow if I don't express opinions, but just say 'okay' and 'yes I see' and ask him as many questions as I can, it really, really helps him. I hope this helps, I really do, because it's just as hard for you as it is for your friend. Stay strong and take care, but most important of all, show you care.
