Chocolate cravings and PMS [Reader Responses]

To the reader and Alice,

Two other, perhaps healthier ways I can think of to get the chocolate fix:

  • trail mix including nuts, wholegrain pretzels and dark chocolate chips
  • chocolate covered fruit — very indulgent and a good way to get vitamins and chocolate.

In fact, I think if I ate chocolate covered berries and bananas at that time every month, I'd probably look forward to it!

To the reader:

Also, don't buy 6 candy bars. Buy one serving while you are out for coffee with a friend, enjoy it immensely, and don't bring any home under any circumstances. Works for me, someone who would eat a pound of chocolate in an afternoon if it shared my residence.

Dear Alice,

I have the same chocolate cravings before my period and have not found that exercise or anything else works. The best part for me is that once my period ends, my appetite decrease significantly and I lose the weight gained. Of course it's a pain because I go through this weight gain scenario EVERY MONTH!
