(1) Dear Reader, I have found that the best treatment for nightmares is prayer. I ask God to give me a peaceful night's sleep, and I also read a little bit of scripture before bed to give my mind some powerful and restful meditation. One place to start is the Psalms or maybe the Gospel of John. There is a reason this book has been a best seller for many centuries.
[back to top] My grandmother's first piece of advice when dealing with nightmares was "check the bedroom." For example, my childhood bedroom contained a wolf puppet that terrified me and stuck in my head every night. Perhaps your bedroom might contain something fear-provoking for you? The reader who suggested prayer and quality time with the bible may be right. I've found that whatever I experienced near bedtime, especially right before, tends to show up in my dreams. If you can, try to banish fear-mongering stimuli from your nighttime routine and add some relaxing stimuli, like a religious text or some music. I hope this helps and wish you well.
