Hi Alice,
Like your girlfriend I have been a long time user of marijuana and have used it for similar purposes that your girlfriend does. I am now 37 and have been smoking pot almost everyday for at least 22 years. Over the last few years, I have found that I have massive mood swings, get aggressive easily, and suffer from a range of symptoms similar to depression, but I am not, and have never been, depressed. I decided that it was time to see what was wrong with me and why I needed to smoke pot to feel "normal." I spoke with the doctor and he put me on Lexapro which is a seratonin-based drug. It has only been 10 days, and I feel fantastic. I don't even feel the need to smoke pot. Normally if I ran out, I would feel very anxious and uneasy. But I can tell you that I don't feel like I even want any. Besides being much more cost-effective it is much better on your health because I sure don't want to die of lung cancer. Get your girlfriend to see a doctor and try some of the new range of anti-depressants out there. Lexapro may not work for her, but I am sure that there is something that will be more suitable. Cheers, Another Once Regular Pot User
