(1) Dear Alice, Re: I feel like I have lost the ability to communicate with people You know, I even get that feeling too! I am not a really shy person but, "some" people make me feel awkward..totally. Especially because they are such quiet people and I am not! Don't worry a lot over this...I think when I get into these situations I don't do a lot of talking or I dare myself, to walk over and say hi! It isn't easy at first...but, I make myself do these things. Otherwise, I will never know what these people are going to be like and unfortunately, I have misjudged so many great people out there in this world all because I was "terrified" to go over and say hello! But, I would suggest just taking your time, and don't feel that because you aren't meeting and greeting everybody like everyone else around you is, that YOU MUST DO THESE THINGS! You do it when you are comfortable and ready...it's YOUR BUSINESS whether you do it or not! It's your prerogative..and just think in that mode...(you are not "stuck-up" you just need TIME) is all! It happens for me and many other people who can get shy/scared at times! Don't panic, just be yourself....people will get a chance to get to know you too!
[back to top] Don't be so hard on your self. Try telling yourself over and over that you CAN communicate with others and that you CAN talk openly with others. And this might sound silly, but mabe you can try practicing talking openly with a bunch of stuffed animals. Hey, it was just a suggestion.
