Dear Alice,

RE: Dizzy after exercise

You may be stopping too suddenly. Since your blood pressure normally falls when you stop, you should continue to move. If you were running, just walk around a bit til your heart rate slows to more normal. If you stop and/or sit down too soon blood will pool in your lower extremities, causing dizziness. An immediate aid to dizziness from low blood pressure is to bend your head down. You may be doing too much too soon. You should have already checked with your doctor before starting an exercise program if in poor shape initially or if over 40 years old or so. A diet adequate in nutrition and eaten in the right quantities and at the right time relative to the exercise time is necessary also.
