(1) Hey Alice, About pubic hair shaving: I am a gay male, and I like to have smooth pubes. I did shave in the past, but found the re-growth to be extremely painful and annoying. I tried plucking the hairs once, but it took a week at about 30 minutes per day. I found the experience extremely enjoyable. Pulling the hairs with tweezers gives a pleasurable feeling. Oddly enough, it only happens on the pubes itself; as soon as I get on the scrotum or the penis shaft, it becomes extremely painful, as one would expect, unless you hold back the skin tightly.
The lengthy procedure prompted me to buy an epilating machine (the machine is an "Epilady," whose principle is a rotating cylinder with clasps perpendicular to the axis of rotation that open and close once per rotation), which does the whole job in about 30 - 45 minutes, including tweezing the remaining hairs that slip though.
The feeling is not as good as tweezing, but it is far from being as painful as it may appear (I once demonstrated the machine to a hairdresser, and he recoiled at the horror, which is odd for a guy with many body-piercings). When I want to keep my pubes always smooth, I epilate about once every two months (mostly around summer, to go sunbathing naked). The new growth is extremely fine, and does not have as many ingrown hairs as shaving does...
Over time, I experimented with the machine, and found out that it was better if I did not wash first, as the sebum prevents chaffing as the rotating parts rub against the skin. However, the presence of sebum on the hairs makes them harder to grab for the machine, not to mention that one must clean the machine afterwards.
There can be minor irritation or bleeding, but otherwise, the result is extremely smooth, as there is no irritation like when using a razor. Of course, I refrain from having sex with someone else for about 1 week after epilating, to insure proper healing of any micro-wounds I may have.
Hope this helps.
[back to top] I am a straight male, but I shave my pubic hair off, as well. Every thing is shaved. The area above my penis, my penis itself, and my scrotum. It is much more comfortable not having hair there. Also, when I masturbate, it feels a lot better when I stroke my shaved balls and cock. I think every guy should shave their pubic hair at least once to try it. Shaved In Canada
[back to top] Alice: I had surgery that required my pubic hair to be shaved. It was a pleasant surprise to be "bald" and I have kept myself shaved for 2 years. On a return visit to the doctor, I asked him about this, and he surprised me by saying that most men do some shaving or trimming. I suppose we feel self conscious at first because we don't realize what the rest of "mankind" is doing. TR
