Dear Alice,
In regards to The Swimming and Green Hair Connection?... my hair turned a really obvious lime green after swimming in a friend's pool just once this summer. It wasn't just a tinge of green, it was really bad. I tried the expensive salon shampoos that contained the EDTA, but found the results disappointing. I even tried using Palmolive Dish soap (another Internet suggestion). My wonderful hairdresser did an experiment on me soaking one half of my hair in coke and the other side in lemon juice (similar to putting a penny in either solution in order to get the rust and dirt off). Both worked much quicker (within minutes versus days) and had awesome results compared to the shampoo. But overall, the lemon juice scored the highest points for removing all of the green and getting me back to natural the fastest. So if anyone else gets stuck, save your money and use what you have around the house! Good luck!
